Installing on a Fire TV Stick
A Fire TV has no usable browser, so the usual route is the free Downloader app (by AFTVnews) from the Amazon Appstore.
- 01
Allow apps from unknown sources
Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options → Install Unknown Apps, then turn it on for Downloader. Older sticks call it “Apps from Unknown Sources” instead. - 02
Open Downloader and enter the address
Typealgoplaya.vercel.app/apkinto the URL box and press Go. It is deliberately short: that is eleven presses on a D-pad, not sixty. - 03
Install, then delete the file
Press Install when the prompt appears, then Done → Delete. Deleting removes the downloaded APK, not the app. - 04
Add your playlist
AlgoPlay asks for one thing on first launch: an M3U file, an M3U URL, or your Xtream host, username and password.
Android TV boxes, phones and tablets
Download the APK and open it. Android will ask once for permission to install from whichever app you downloaded it with, and then install normally.
With a cable and the Android platform tools, this also works:
adb connect <your-tv-ip>:5555 adb install -r AlgoPlay-v2.10.366.apk
Updating
AlgoPlay updates itself: Settings → Advanced → App updates checks this site, downloads the new build, verifies its SHA-256 and installs it over the old one. Playlists, favourites, watch history and settings are kept.
Versions before 2.9 check for updates in a place that no longer answers, so install the current APK once by hand, the same way as above, over the top of the app you have. Every release from v2.1 onwards is signed with the same key, so Android treats it as an upgrade, not a fresh install.
Upgrading from a build published before v2.1 needs an uninstall first. Those were signed with a throwaway key generated by the build machine, so Android refuses to replace them.
AlgoPlay is a player
It does not sell, include, host, link to or recommend any channels, streams, subscriptions or media, and it comes with no playlist. You bring your own, and you are responsible for having the right to watch what you connect it to. See the terms of use.
